Day 19--

Learning Target Image What will I be able to do when I've finished this lesson? What idea, topic, or subject is important for me to learn and understand so that I can do this? What will I do to show that I can do this?  How well will I have to do this?
I will be able to explain events that changed the nature of leadership in England during the 17th Century.
I need to focus on how religious, philosophical, and political differences led to conflict in England during this time period.
I will take notes and answer questions from a slideshow presentation on the English Civil War and Restoration.     This is a formative assessment. I need to complete it carefully to add to the material I will need later.

Key Question: How did European leaders during the Age of Absolutism follow their own interests while facing resistance from others, both from inside their countries and from outside?

Last night's assignment included lots of important terms and concepts, but one that figures in today's discussions is the term "Divine".

Look at your definition for that term in your assignment, and be ready to explain it to others.

The Divine Right of Kings is an idea that figures prominently in the story of the English Civil War.

To help you understand the story of what happened, you'll need to open a copy of a document called English Civil War Notes and make a copy so you can make changes. For today, follow along with the slide show and take notes in the document as we go. You'll be able to access the slideshow later if you need it.
