Note: If you are planning to retake the Renaissance Unit test, please let Mr. Knowles know when you will be coming in to take it. Before taking it, remember to:
  1. Make corrections to all questions you missed on the first test
  2. Complete and/or improve the formative assessments for the unit (Renaissance WebByte, People, Places, Things & Ideas, Renaissance Locations, Google Map, Comparison assignment). 
  3. Bring all those with you when you will retake the test.
Remember: The retake test is NOT the same test you took the first time, so be prepared before coming in.

 I will be able to explain the basic concepts of the Reformation, and identify the major ideas and people involved.
I need to find out why people challenged the Christian Church in the years following the Renaissance, and how the new ideas threatened the old established powers.
I will read and discuss a short summary of the textbook's reading while creating questions and comments about the reading. This is a formative assessment. The reading and questions and comments I come up with will help me understand the material I need in my next summative assessment. 

1) Yesterday's assignment (in class, and for homework if you didn't finish) was to read a short summary of the story behind the Reformation. Begin class today by turning in your copy of the assignment to the DropBox. We'll be reviewing your work in class in a few minutes, so make sure it's shared so it can be viewed and edited. 

2) After sharing your assignment, check it with this Vocabulary Self-Check Activity.

3) We'll talk about the results in a few minutes, but in the meantime, you'll want to get started on learning more about Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation by  reading a bit more out of the text. So while you're waiting for others to finish step 2 above, open a new assignment called Reformation Readings, and begin reading the textbook on page 176. It should sound a little familiar, because yesterday's reading was a summary of the same information. As you read, you should be able to complete the boxes in Part I of the assignment. We'll work on this for awhile today in class, and you'll finish for Homework.

4) We'll take a break and watch a short movie that tells the story of Martin Luther's role in the Reformation. 



Homework: Finish Part I questions of the Reformation Readings assignment (Terms, People, and Questions) as you read pages 176-178 of the textbook.  Due Tomorrow at start of class.
