Day 45--

 I will be able to understand how 4 scientists, working separately, built a new understanding of the universe.I will watch a video about the scientists and add information from the video to last night's homework from the textbook. I will write a well-organized paragraph using the information I've gathered explaining how each scientist challenged, changed, or built on the ideas of others. This is a formative assessment. My work will directly help me later as I complete my summative assessment for this assessment cycle.

Standard: History 4.2 -- Understand and analyzes causal factors that have shaped major events in history.

Key Question to Answer: How do people challenge, change, and build on the ideas of those who have come before them?

Content Focus--Ch 10: Revolution and Enlightenment, 1500-1800 (300-329)

Last night's homework was to collect information from the textbook about the 4 important scientists that moved our understanding from a Geocentric to a Heliocentric understanding of the universe. 

Today, as we watch a video about this change in understanding, add information and notes to your assignment. When you see new information that will help you understand what these 4 scientists did, or how they met the challenges before them, add that information to your existing notes.

Homework: Write a paragraph where you explain how each of the 4 scientists challenged, changed, and/or built upon the ideas of those who had gone before them. Include at least one sentence for each of them, plus a topic sentence and concluding sentence (of course). This requires at least 6 sentences in your finished paragraph. 

If you're stuck, try this format for your paragraph:
Topic sentence (you might want to mention Ptolemy and his theory)
Sentence about how Copernicus challenged, changed, or built on the ideas of Ptolemy.
Sentence about how Kepler challenged, changed, or built on the ideas of Copernicus and Ptolemy.
Sentence about how Galileo challenged, changed, or built on the ideas of Kepler, Copernicus, and Ptolemy.
Sentence about how Newton challenged, changed, or built on the ideas of Galileo, Kepler, Copernicus, and Ptolemy.
Closing sentence (maybe mention the concepts of challenging, changing, and/or building on the ideas of others).
