posted May 3, 2011, 7:02 AM by Peter Knowles

Columbia High School has earned Washington State's Achievement Award for Overall Excellence from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the State Board of Education. In an awards ceremony held April 27 at Tacoma's Lincoln High, State Superintendent Randy Dorn and Board of Education member Warren T. Smith handed out awards to recipients of the prestigious honor, including Columbia Principal Troy Whittle, CHS teachers Amy Kasenga and Peter Knowles, and White Salmon Schools Superintendent Jerry Lewis, who traveled to Tacoma for the day to accept the award on behalf of the entire faculty, staff, and students whose hard work and daily efforts contributed to the school's successes. Columbia has reason to be proud of its achievements; it was one of only 21 high schools across the state to receive the award for Overall Excellence.
More information about the award and the criteria used to identify schools deserving of it can be found on the OSPI website at: http://www.k12.wa.us/Communications/PressReleases2010/SchoolAchievementAwards.aspx
