BASIC SEARCH

Watch:

Search training video: (3:50)

Do:
Using a topic you will be teaching this year, conduct a basic search for resources.
Type your topic in the search box, then use the resulting descriptors on the left to narrow your choices by subject area, grade level, resource type, or other features.
Locate resources that look like they might be useful in your classes, and give them a try.
NOTE: Chromebooks will not play the Silverlight (default) video format. Choose QuickTime instead.
Also, the volume control is on keys at the top right of your keyboard in case it's too loud or too quiet.

ADVANCED SEARCH

You can save a little time if you know what you want by using the Advanced Search tools.

Watch:

Do:

Using your search topic from before, conduct an Advanced Search for resources you might use.

Screenshot Below: Notice the options available for your Advanced Search. Keep in mind that the more you specify in this screen, the fewer results you'll get.

CREATING PLAYLISTS
Now that you've found all these great resources, how do you keep track of them? Playlists are one way to do it.

Watch:

Playlists: (8:49)

Do:
Use the "Add to Playlist" function to create a playlist and add a few titles to it.
Use the "My Learn360" to find the playlist.

Using the Tab Features on your results pages
Do:
Go to one of your found resources
Click on each of the 5 tabs below the viewing screen to see what each contains:
Overview -- synopsis of current choice
Related Segments -- clips that occur before and after the current resource (I use this a lot)
Teacher Resources -- handouts, quizzes, teachers' guides to accompany the resources (Not a lot... yet, but growing)
Standards -- Common Core, State, and 21st Century Tech Standards (Same as above....still under development)
Citations -- How to cite the source in student work using different formats.

There's lots more you can do with Learn360
