Content ObjectiveUnderstand how Pericles changed the lives of those who lived under his rule, and how some of those actions had impacts on cultures that followed.

Language Objective   Students will discuss research material about Pericles as they determine whether it is fact or opinion, and as they create a mind map with a partner.HOW YOU WILL COMMUNICATE WHAT YOU LEARN

Activity
InstructionsStart with an individual quiz; use your notes from last night's homework assignment to help you. No books, no help from others, just do the best you can with your homework assignment to help you.

Once you finish the quiz, you should open today's assignment; 
Go to Google Docs, and Create New...From Template> Pericles Notes


In today's class, you'll be collecting information about Pericles from a number of sources. As you learn about him, organize your notes into "facts" and "opinions", keeping track of the source of your information. Work with a partner to share your ideas and notes. 


Homework: Learn about the Roman Empire's leadership by reading and taking notes on Julius Caesar and the "Good" Emperors. Read From Republic to Empire (50) The Early Empire (51-52) and the People in History section (51). Take notes about the important leaders and what they did. Have them ready for class tomorrow.

WHAT TO DO WHEN FINISHED WITH TODAY'S ACTIVITIES 
ExtensionIf you have used all the links supplied about Pericles, try to find more information on your own about some of the other leaders from Ancient Greece who helped develop democratic ideas.  Try a Google Search for Solon, Cleisthenes, or Pisistratus and follow any of the links for more information. Add any notes you take to your Google Doc you started today, or to your mind map,  but make sure you note that they are from EXTRA sources. WHAT TO DO IF YOU'VE FINISHED THIS WEEK'S SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
