InstructionsAfter reviewing yesterday's work on ancient civilizations and geography, take a look at three areas and civilizations that did not share the same type of geographic features. Take notes in a Google Document (if you've signed in; on paper if you haven't)
  1. Ancient Greece became a major influence in the growth of civilization without a major river valley. Learn more about it to find out what its geography was like, and how ancient Greeks used the resources they had to build their civilization. (38-39)
  2. The early Islamic civilizations and empires also lived in a land without fertile river valleys. How did they adapt their culture and economy to their environmental challenges (90-91)
  3. Early civilizations in Mesoamerica also managed to grow and thrive in a geographic environment very different from the early river valley civilizations. What environmental challenges did they face, and how did they conquer them? (144-147)
When you finish, take a few minutes to set up your blog for classroom assignments.

Summative AssessmentFriday's assessment will be a blog post in answer to the question:
In what ways do geographic features play a role in how humans interact and build communities? If you haven't set up your blog yet, you should probably do so. Then you can start thinking about examples you learned about today. They will come in handy when you need to write about them.
WHAT TO DO WHEN FINISHED WITH TODAY'S ACTIVITIES
