Hand in your homework assignment from last night by putting a link to it in the Class DropBox, then work on updating your map.

Add the following map locations from last night's reading to your Google Map:
  1. Haiti
  2. Mexico
  3. Argentina
  4. Venezuela
  5. Colombia
  6. Ecuador
  7. Chile
  8. Peru
  9. Texas
  10. Cuba
  11. Puerto Rico
  12. Panama Canal
  13. Nicaragua
A list of all the locations (a total of 43) that should be on your map is available. Your map should be done by the end of the day tomorrow.

After completing some work on your map, you'll want to turn your attention to today's in-class assignment. Open a Google Document Template called "Latin American Nations" and complete the chart and questions there. As you do so, keep this question in mind:

How did changes in territorial control in Latin America change the lives of people there and in their former colonial powers?

Our next assessment

Standard-- Geography 3.3: Understand the geographic context of global issues.

Big Question -- How do differing ideas of territorial control change the lives of people around the world?

Content Focus-- Global Challenges 1870-1914: Ch 12, Section 2 & 3 (388-401), Ch 13, Section 3 (434-437), Ch 14 (450-479)

HOMEWORK: READ the two poems on "The White Man's Burden" and be ready to discuss when class begins tomorrow. You can read it below, or open a copy of your own from Google Doc Templates. (There are questions at the end that we'll use for our discussion; you don't need to answer them before class, but you may. You should definitely read the questions along with the poems before class)
