October 1

Your homework over the weekend was to get caught up on any assignments that you were behind on. Be sure to turn in any that you want to get credit for. Use the dropbox or, if on paper, hand them in.

Today we'll start by watching a video to introduce you to the last of the leaders we'll be looking at during this assessment, called Justinian and the Byzantines

As you watch, pay attention to the things he did that made him an effective leader.  Open your copy of Roman Leader Notes to take some notes about him as you watch. If you've been sharing it with another student, stop sharing it now so you can begin focusing more on your own ideas and interpretations.

Now that you've learned a bit about him, learn a little more by reading page 123 in your text about his major contributions to history. As you read, see if you can find the answers to the questions at the bottom of the page. Add them to your notes.

We'll begin working on the next assessment in class tomorrow. Be sure you're ready to go by having all assignments for the unit completed.

Civics Standard
1.2 Understand the purposes, organization, and function of governments, laws, and political systems.

Assessment Question:
How do the decisions of leaders affect those who follow them?
Use at least 4 sources to support your arguments
