Day 33--

Learning Target ImageWhat will I be able to do when I've finished this lesson? How will I  accomplish this task?  How will I show that I have done this? How well will I have to do this?
I will be able to explain how Chinese Empires changed their approach toward outsiders over time. I will review last night's homework with a focus on a few key events that helped determine China's policy toward outsiders.I will complete an outline that focuses on reasons for China's approach toward interaction with other cultures and societies. This is a formative assessment. I need to complete it carefully to provide material I will need later for my summative assessment.
Standard: Economics 2.4 -- Understand the economic issues and problems that all societies face.
Essential Question --

How do decisions about trade and isolation help or hurt a society in the long run? (Due Tuesday, March 26)

Last night's homework introduced you to two long-lasting empires in China's history. The Ming Dynasty lasted from 1368 until 1644, and the Qing Dynasty from 1644 until 1911. Today's assignment will take a look at a few key events and decisions taken by these two dynasties. As you complete it, keep your focus on the essential question for this unit:

How do decisions about trade and isolation help or hurt a society in the long run?

You may want to copy and paste the outline below into your homework from last night, or into a new Google Doc. Keep in mind that the textbook may not have the answer to each question in the outline for every section, but do your best to collect as much as you can.
