Today we continue what we started in class yesterday, looking at the link between public policies and the 6 ideals presented in the Preamble to the Constitution:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

What does each of those 6 purposes mean to us today? We'll take a look at some modern events to decide if the Preamble accurately describes the role of Government today.

Now it's time to find some examples of your own. Use a news site (such as those below) to find your own example of a government action (aka public policy) that demonstrates the government fulfilling one of the 6 purposes from the Preamble. Look for a news story that involves the government taking action, then decide which of the 6 ideals it is designed to support. 
Be ready to share what you find in a small group and to share the link of the story with Mr. Knowles.  

HOMEWORK: READ pages 10-14 and answer questions 1-4 on page 14.  Be ready when you come to class tomorrow.
