Last night's homework: Questions anyone? If not, hand it in.

Today we'll be working with the homework, looking at the 5 main concepts introduced in last night's reading.
They are:
  1. A recognition of the fundamental worth of every person
  2. A respect for the equality of all persons
  3. A faith in majority rule accompanied by respect for minority rights
  4. An acceptance of the necessity of compromise
  5. An insistence upon the widest degree of individual freedom
In groups of 3 or 4, you'll focus on a single concept to try to really understand it, then share your findings with others.

Meet with your group and come to a decision about what to put in your chart. Use each other or online sources to come up with definitions for key words within your chart, then decide how to translate the concept into YOUR language, why democracy places such a large value on it, and also what limits exist on the concept.

After you finish your group work, each of you will need to open a Google Document Template called "Chapter1Concepts" (Here's how....)
Find the principle you've been working with in your new document and type the answers you came up with in the proper location in the chart.

Once all groups are done, we'll be discussing them together as a class. Be ready to explain yours.
