Welcome back!

Today we look at the Presidential Caucus, to understand what's happening tonight in Iowa.
Begin by re-reading the short section on Caucuses and Conventions on page 334-335 in your textbook.
What questions do you have?

Now, what's happening tonight?
The following videos will help us understand.
  • Iowa Caucus Preview talks about the process, what will happen, what the candidates can expect.
  • Undecided in Iowa shows you how 3 Iowans are still undecided about which candidate to support, and why.
  • Obama's Shadow Operation explains what President Obama is up to in Iowa. He's the only Democrat running, but that doesn't mean he's just waiting on the sidelines.
More information is available online from PBS about the caucus process, and from the New York Times, about the role of people attending the caucuses who want to speak up on behalf of a particular candidate.

And what comes next? A primary in New Hampshire on January 10. It's a different state, a different process, but many of the same questions exist.
  • New Hampshire Voices shows you how a few potential voters in the New Hampshire primary are thinking about their role in the process.

What questions do you have about tonight's caucus? How about next week's primary? About the entire nomination process?
